Wedding Diaries

Jessica & Dan

Gorgeous ivory & cream roses were the floral feature of Jess and Dan’s wedding on November 28th 2009. The couple were married on the boardwalk at Coolum and celebrated afterwards with their close family and friends at Cucina al Mare, Coolum. We were in close contact with Jess via email to ensure everything was perfect – with 4 bridesmaids, 2 groomsmen, 3 flower girls and a page boy it was important everything was organised!

Wearing a magnificent pearl coloured gown, Jess carried a formal posy of Ivory Vandella and cream Emmanuelle roses with dodder vine feature and chocolate magnolia foliage throughout. Her 4 Bridesmaids had ivory and cream roses without the dodder vine.

The 3 Flower Girls had sweet pomander balls made with ivory miniature roses and dodder vine on ivory satin ribbon, the oldest also carried a petal basket.

Maleny Manor

We have the pleasure of working at the beautiful Maleny Manor nearly every weekend, we are actually Maleny Manor’s in-house floral designers and provide all of their package flowers to couples who choose one of the reception packages that include floral content. Of course we also provide couples with their beautiful wedding bouquets and wedding party designs as well, allowing us to create a detailed floral theme that flows right through the entire wedding day.

Maleny Manor excels in style and sophistication, providing an elegant wedding venue for couples wanting to celebrate their day in the stunning Sunshine Coast Hinterland area. The gorgeous Marlene assists all of the brides and grooms with their wedding plans and we just love being a part of this very special venue.

We thought it would be a fabulous idea to show you a few floral designs and styling details that we have created for a couple of recent weddings at Maleny Manor. We hope the following images provide you with some inspiration in anticipation for a wedding you may have planned at Maleny Manor.

Jana & Wade

Back in November we were excited to be a part of this stylish and sophisticated wedding. Jana Kachel, the designer behind the gorgeous womenswear label KACHEL married her sweetheart Wade on a balmy, summers afternoon at Sails, Noosa. Being a highly successful clothing designer and a graphic artist, we knew Jana’s styling for her wedding would be exquisite. A few key styling pieces were hired from Events By Design such as French cotton lace table runners (imported especially!) candelabras, pretty tealight votives and the gorgeous canopy under which the couple were married, the whole event was effortlessly elegant.

Every table at Sails featured from 5 – 7 crystals vases of all different shapes and sizes, we sourced some amazing new crystal for the occasion and Jana and her Mother spent weeks gathering a collection of family heirloom crystal vases and vintage store finds. We used a wide variety of gorgeous blooms including white Peonies, white Hydrangea, blue Hydrangea, white Freesias, white Miniature Roses, ivory Roses, cream Lisianthus, white Lisianthus, dark blue Delphinium and Cornflower. There was to be 2/3 white and ivory tones through the room with a hint of Cobalt blue.

Floral Styling

November was a very busy month for us all here at Mondo Floral Designs, and the highlight was indeed the gorgeous wedding of Georgia and Ben on November 2oth. Georgia’s mother Jenny played an integral part in the planning of this divine event, and we had the honour and privilege of creating and designing the lavish floral designs that transformed Sails Restaurant Noosa into a truly opulent floral fairytale. With a ceremony at St Andrews Church Noosa and an elegant reception by the water at Sails, it was a memorable event.

And oh my… there where flowers everywhere. White was the beautiful theme, with a styling palette of soft silver and rustic green as accessorising colours. The entire floral theme was centred on the gorgeous peony, which as most of our brides tend to find out after their wedding date is set, actually are only available for 4-5 weeks per year. We flew hundreds and hundreds of them in from our Melbourne supplier, and they played a beautiful part in this amazing wedding, in unison with white hydrangea, white freesias, silver dusty miller, chocolate magnolia and beautiful berries and vine - the most decadent of designs were created.

Many of our clients search for various options to choose from for reception designs, we think you will agree that these beautiful designs are just mesmerising, every area of the restaurant was filled with beautiful blooms. The highlight of the styling was a large canopy of twigs, willow and vine with sections of peony blooms which hung above the 9 metre bridal table!

A big thank you must also go to Jenny, Georgia’s mother who out did herself with this beautiful concept, and allowed us to create a beautiful floral styling design. Also to Melinda and the team at Sails Restaurant Noosa who we just love working with, and finally to my amazing team, Louise, Angela, Emma and Trevor for working so incredibly hard on this wedding, it was a long, busy weekend but I think you will agree the results speak for themselves… truly inspiring.

Why we loved this wedding…

Terrianne  – Peonies are one of my favourite blooms, and it was just wonderful to have a wedding with such a large focus of floral designs, nothing was missed, every corner, every table, every pew, every overhanging beam, an amazing experience!!

Louise – The wedding was truly one of a kind! We were all thrilled (and very exhausted afterwards!) that we were able to be involved in such a lavish event. I think we will always remember the hard work that went into this wedding and the satisfaction of seeing the beautiful end result.

Juliet & Matthew

The talented team at Events By Design coordinated the gorgeous vintage-themed wedding of Juliet & Matthew in Noosa, October 10th 2009. The pretty colour palette included ivory, soft apricot, pink, soft coffee tones and a feature olive green ribbon which was used to bind Juliet’s bouquet.

JMG_077

JMG_079

Juliet’s bouquet was a soft posy of cream Emmanuelle roses and latte Honeymoon roses with a feature of dodder vine and chocolate magnolia foliage. Her bridesmaid carried a slightly smaller version of the bridal bouquet.

Juliet wanted the decorative focus of their wedding to be on her favourite flowers – roses. We added a touch of dodder vine to the rose designs to enhance the vintage theme and we spent many months sourcing beautiful crystal vases for the reception at Bistro C.

JMG_569

JMG_567

Half of the tables at Bistro C featured 3 vintage crystal vases, while the other half had 1 large crystal vase each filled with gorgeous roses such as cream Emmanuelle, soft apricot Talea, latte Honeymoon, soft pink Sweet Avalanche and a touch of open bloom pink David Austin roses with dodder vine & chocolate magnolia foliage. A stunning set-up enhanced by candelabras and accessories from Events By Design.

Why we loved this wedding…

Terrianne – what can I say, breathtakingly beautiful, roses, and more roses how more elegant can you get, a truly beautiful wedding one of my favourites.

Louise – Roses are a timeless choice for wedding flowers and I ADORE crystal vases!!

Corinne & David

A very excited Corinne and David were married amongst the trees on the boardwalk at Buderim in October. Corinne wore a stunning Elizabeth de Varga gown and her 5 bridesmaids wore charcoal grey dresses, a thoroughly stylish bridal party!

CDW_132-1

Keeping the theme stylish and elegant, the flowers Corinne chose were all white with just hint of natural green. Her bouquet was a fully wired trailing design featuring white roses, white freesias, white Singapore orchids and a touch of green gardenia & camellia foliage. The bridesmaids carried posies of white Freesias tied with white satin and finished with diamante crystal pins.

Corinne & David celebrated with their family & friends at Montegos on the Bay and they chose a fresh and unique floral centrepiece for each table. A large glass fishbowl with a submerged design of white Singapore orchids, twisted willow, dodder vine & a green cordyline leaf with white pebbles in the base of the vase.

We had the pleasure of adding our floral touches to the amazing cake featured at the Reception.

Beautiful images again by Calli B Photography, a very decadent affair!

Why we loved this wedding…

Terrianne – I love the simplicity of white, although it is a popular wedding palette for flowers the clean lines of the freesias and Corinne’s elegant trailing bouquet gave the designs a very edgy feel.

Louise – Freesias are so sweet and petite, I just love using them in wedding bouquets. Corinne’s bouquet was classic white & green which accessorised her stunning gown rather than detracting attention from it.

Leanne & Brad

LB_328-1

On a gorgeous spring morning in September Leanne and Brad were married in a beautiful garden ceremony at the stunning Spotted Chook Montville. This wedding was an absolute delight for us as we were able to create floral designs with a distinct country garden feel. A colour palette of raspberry, cream, and tones of cerise and red stole the styling show for this special event.

LB_294-1

Leanne’s bouquet featured one of her favourite roses the “Sahara” which was complimented by the gorgeous “New Fashion” rose. We also included dodder vine, andromeda, white Geraldton wax flower, green Berzilia berry & fragrant rosemary. Her bridesmaids wore stunning, patterned dresses so instead of hand held posy bouquets, we created delicate wrist corsages featuring the Sahara roses, miniature red roses, berry, rosemary & dodder vine.

LB_090-1

IMG_3533-1

In conjunction with the amazing team from Events by Design who provided the most beautiful styling and décor pieces (we loved the bird cage – so divine!) we added our floral charm and focused on designs featuring open bloom roses, ranunculus, gladioli, and accessorised with flowering andromeda, Geraldton wax flower, peppercorn berries & foliage and dodder vine in eclectic garden style vases and watering cans.

Why we loved this wedding

Terrianne – Such fun was this event! From a floral perspective unstructured open bloom roses with berries and vine highlighted the gorgeous country style.

Louise – I love the unstructured style of all the arrangements we created – and Leanne just had flowers everywhere you looked! It looked gorgeous and the Spotted Chook was beautifully styled for their wedding.

Lee & Chris

It was a perfectly sunny day in September for the wedding of Lee & Chris. This gorgeous couple were so obviously in love, it was a pleasure to work with them in creating their dream wedding flowers. The colour theme for their wedding day was cream/ivory/white with a hint of red. Lee wanted a soft posy of mixed flowers in creams & whites with minimal foliage. We used cream lisianthus, ivory roses & white freesias with a touch of gardenia & camellia foliage on the exterior. Her bridesmaid who wore red, carried a slightly smaller version of the bridal bouquet.

The couple celebrated with their close family and friends at Key Restaurant, Maleny. Each table featured a large, glass fishbowl vase with a fresh, fragrant posy of white freesias & a delightful bloom named Winston Churchill – a variety of Narcissus (jonquil) which is only available for about 4 weeks a year. These posies were tied with white organza so that at the end of the night, they could be given as gifts to some of the guests. Each table also had vanilla scented candles so the perfume in the room would have been lovely!

Congratulations Lee & Chris!

Why we loved this wedding

Terrianne – I loved the varying neutral palette in the bouquets. Soft whites, ivorys & creams with a touch of green worked perfectly for this wedding.

Louise – Lee’s bouquet was so soft & pretty! It was a delight to be able to use the Winston Churchills on the reception tables – they’re so charming & fragrant.

Cecilia & Paul

Cecilia and Paul were married at Maleny Manor on August 30th 2009. Cecilia, from the United Kingdom married her Australian sweetheart in an English country-side styled ceremony under the magnificent old Ash tree in the grounds of Maleny Manor. Cecilia has a love for vibrant floral designs and we incorporated punchy tones of burnt orange, coral, raspberry and hot pink into the colour palette for her designs.

003

Cecilia held a stunning, fully wired trailing design of calla lilies, roses, tulips, Asiatic lilies and a touch of flowering Andromeda, pepper berry and trailing ivy. She also wore an elaborate floral headpiece to accessorise her look.

064

The bridesmaids wore coral gowns and held natural stemmed posy bouquets incorporating all of the bright bridal bouquet flowers – this looked divine against their dresses.

The little Flower Girl wore a sweet halo of raspberry pink miniature roses and pepper berry.

Cecilia and Paul had a bright, sunny Australian wedding day with sentimental touches reminiscent of her English heritage.

The reception was a vivid combination of the two focal tones of hot pink and orange, each table featuring unstructured floral designs cascading out of simple glass vases creating a visual showcase of spring colour which was enhanced by the sweet smelling aroma of Stock and Freesias.

Their amazing croquenbouche was decorated with miniature roses in hot pink and a skirt of coral roses at the base of the gorgeous display.

Why we love this wedding …

Terrianne – elaborate colour palettes combined with stunning seasonal blooms created a visual showcase and was a wonderful example of using colour to enhance your wedding day.

Louise – We work with a lot of white, cream & ivory toned flowers so it was quite refreshing to create these bright, colourful floral designs.
