I sometimes have the great privilege to create wedding flowers for my very close friends, It can often be a little stressful trying to manage the floral designs while also hoping to attend the ceremony and then relax and just be an actual guest at the wedding. In this instance although that particular scenario was never close at hand, as my dear friend Jeff finally found the love of his life and married the gorgeous Simone in a river bank ceremony at Eves on The River in Teneriffe Brisbane.

Simone was the most laid back bride I have had the pleasure to deal with, her brief to me concerning the design of her wedding flowers was “vibrant colours, unusual textures, and punchy tones of red and green”. Simone put her complete trust in me and gave me the freedom to create her wedding bouquet based on those thoughts. I designed a modern trailing bouquet with green Dendrobium orchids, Phalaenopsis orchids, antheriums, lotus pods and feature berry. The cocktail reception featured tall floral vases with white lilies and berries and low cube designs of green Dendrobiums.

Simone and Jeff wanted a laid back wedding, and it was a little untraditional, as they walked to the river ceremony arm and arm, and surrounded by family and friends, where they then expressed their true love and respect to each other. Their eighteen month old son Miller had the time of his life in the pre-ceremony photos, and as you can see he was quite bemused by the flowers and also captivated by a bright yellow balloon.

Jeff, Simone and Miller are now experiencing life overseas, as Simone has taken a position with Save The Children in Myanmar, Burma, I wish them lots of love and happiness!
